Today's post was brought to you by the letter Nn

I thought I would start sharing with you activities, crafts, etc from my classroom each week. Maybe it will give you some ideas to do with your kids. One of the letters we covered this week was Nn. We are working on an alphabet book so we added this to it.

We made a nest for our bird.

On Friday of each week, we do a cooking activity related to our theme. For the letter Nn, we made edible nest.

Recipe:

1 can of chow mien noodles.
2 cups of mini marshmallows
2 tbs butter
jellybeans/ M&Ms

Melt the butter and add marshmallows. Once the marshmallows have melted, remove the pot off  of the stove and add noodles. Stir and immediately drop spoonfuls onto wax paper. Add jellybeans or M&Ms to the nest.

Here is my class enjoying the fruits of their labor:

Chewy's new buddy

Chewy is the type of dog that thrives on attention. Usually everywhere I go..... he follows. As I sit here now typing this, he is laying on my foot and passing some extreme morbid gas. Good thing I can type while holding my breath. He has not been to happy with us since I returned to work. He is having potty training issues again. We had planned to enclose our porch and put him out there so he could go in and out.  That idea came to a screeching halt when the man we hired took off with our money( long story). This past week Chewy was not as lonely. He had a playmate.

Chewy enjoyed having company........that is once he worked through his jealousy.

Meet Oreo......another spoiled lapdog.

I learned that I am very happy with my spoiled, follow me everywhere, sleep at my butt, am alarm clock dog.

War Eagle with a little Go Cocks!

Yesterday at school, they had NFL/College Day. If you paid a $1, you could wear your favorite sports team attire. Since I am the one who picks out the girls clothes and of course mine, you probably know what team we rooted for......Auburn Tigers, baby! Griffin( who I don't think had his contacts in that morning) chose a Gamecock shirt. Personally, I think he only did it to please a certain someone in this house because deep down inside he is a true orange and blue fan! JK! I knew that would get my hubby all FIRED up.

Happy Game Day to everyone today!

Go Trojans!

Griffin decided to play football with the school this year. There is not enough for the MGCS Warriors to have a team so they play with another private school about 45 minutes away. Yes.....it makes it more difficult as far as arrangements are concerned. Yes......it is a little strange to see him in green and yellow and not black, red or white. He is happy and enjoying it so that is what counts.

A few pictures from last weeks game.

Griffin is number 42.

Griffin had his own personal cheerleaders............his sisters of course!

Addie's birthday

A couple of weeks ago Carmel and the girls went to Conyers, Ga for a birthday party. I did not get to go because I had to speak about our upcoming Ladies Retreat at the Ladies Breakfast. The birthday girl had a gymnastics party. I am sure the girls loved that. Daddy took several pictures for me.

Addie....the birthday girl. She was turning 4.

Hopefully, Ella did not blow out the birthday girl's candles.

When I asked Ella how the party was, she said, "Mom, I got to lick the barbies bottom."
I have the picture to prove it!

Who says girls can't be football players.

Griffin is playing football this year but he may not be the only one for to much longer. We have another member of our household that looks great in uniform.

Drumroll please........Playing as the defensive tackle for the Weed team ........Ella Weed( and the crowd goes wild!).

Let's face it she would be on defense because she definitely knows how to defend herself. Second week of school,  she hit 2 kids in one day. One because he spit in her face......understand the reasoning behind that one. The other was a girl because she was not cleaning the table the way Ella would have.......oh dear!

Don't be surprised if you see her face on a Wheaties cereal box one day!

Slice and bake freezer cookies

I thought I would share with you a freezer tip. You know that feeling you get when you slice open a package of Pillsbury slice and bake chocolate chip cookie dough. You want to eat the cookie dough but then you remember you would miss out on the warm ooey gooey goodness of a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie. I thought I would let you in on a secret my aunt shared with me back in the day. How to package your own slice and bake cookies.

First you mix up you favorite cookie recipe.

I did whole wheat chocolate chip cookies. I usually double or triple the recipe so I can make several.

Next, you put half of the dough on wax paper and form a log shape.

Then, you line the 2 long ends of the wax paper together.

Fold the 2 pieces down.

Then fold each end closed

and tuck up underneath the dough.

Lastly, put a layer of aluminum foil over the wax paper. Use the same steps for the foil as you did for the wax paper. Make sure to write on the outside what type of cookie you made. I do all kinds. Place them in the freezer until you are in the mood for warm ooey gooey cookies.

Bake at 350 for 12 minutes.

These are great for when you have family visiting, functions to attend or several unexpected teens at your house. I have even taken them to new neighbors or over to a friends house for an extra special treat. My packaging is a little plain but you could spruce it  up with ribbon and a tag with the name of the cookie and directions on how to bake.

I can remember my aunt bringing us these when she would come for a visit. Sometimes we would bake them then or place them in the freezer for later. There are a few people that I admire in this world and my  Aunt Beth is one of them. She has been a  wonderful Christian example to me and  I enjoy every moment when I am with her.

Thank you Beth!
