Those little "oh yeah" moments

Sometimes life can get crazy(or maybe for just me) that we forget to do the little things.

We are given reminders to help us along the way!

Like........

The washing machine singing you a little song to let you know the laundry needs to be moved.

A friend calls to ask if you would like a ride to the event you were about to forget.

The ring around the toilet means cleaning time.

Just the other day I had one of those "oh yeah" moments.
I had just come back from a 5 1/2 mile run when I took my shoes off and saw this.......

Oh yeah!

I need to trim my toenails!

Ladies Breakfast

A while back we had a Ladies Breakfast at church. Ella earned some good Samaritan points by helping set up the night before and passing out folders as the ladies walked in.

After it was over, we went outside for some pictures. We have some really pretty trees in the back of the church building. They are also located in a big hole where water gathers. Luckily for us, it was dry.

Strawberry Glaszed Doughnuts

I got this doughnut maker last Christmas and have not used it yet. When I saw this recipe strawberry glazed doughnuts, I knew I wanted to try it.

So I whipped up the ingredients......

and baked them in the doughnut maker. This little thing was fast and easy to use.

Next came the best part......adding the glaze.

Mine did not turn out as pretty as the ones in the picture. When I read the reviews(something I have found to be very important), people commented on the same thing.I used whole white wheat so that may have changed the color.

I thought these doughnuts were tasty. I am not sure why there was salt in the glaze. I think I will leave that out or not add so much next time. The salt taste stood out to me and I did not care for it. I also added some of the leftover strawberry mixture to the glaze to give it a stronger strawberry taste.

The torture one gets while asleep!

The other night Ella was on our bed watching tv. I got up and noticed this.......

She had fallen asleep in this position

I called her father to come take a look. He couldn't just look......he had to do a little sleep torturing!

When I was showing Ella this pictures later on,  she asked, "  eww....  yuck....did dad really poot in my face?"

A red hot grouchy birthday!

Some of you may remember the big surprise 16th birthday party we had for Griffin last year. If not, you read about it here, here, here and here.

This year  we I decided to keep it low key. We went to Buffalo Wild Wings for his birthday supper. He is into anything hot these days.......hot wings, hot chips, hot beef jerky. I have even heard from a few of the ladies that he is hot himself.

Carmel's parents were able to join us for the kids birthdays.

After supper, we went back to the house for cake and gifts.

Griffin requested a red velvet cake with red velvet cake balls on top. What is it with these odd request this year?????
Unlike Ella, I did not have all day to create a masterpiece. I opted for a store bought cake with homemade red velvet balls on top.

This is the finished product.

Probably nothing like what he was in-visioning but he said it was still tasty.

Present time!

Do you remember in the last post  when I told you there would be payback for Griffin getting Ella Justin stuff. Well here it is..............she picked it out herself :)

Laney got him hyper juice and hot snacks.

His parents........well........we gave him our love!

I think it was his favorite present!

American Girl Trip

Ella skipped a birthday party this year so she could take her American Girl to lunch.

This would be a special lunch because we drove a couple of hours to a special place.

The American Girl Boutique and Bistro

It's like going to Six Flags or Disney. The excitement you get once you turn the corner and see the red!

Since both girls had dolls this time, I made them all 4 matching shirts. I ordered 4 iron on transfers from a local shop and did them myself.

Last time we were there, we ate lunch. This time around we tried brunch. The food was delicious but for $1 more you can get a healthier portion for lunch.

Lanie and Jessica are ready to eat.

The girls were a little disappointed this year. The waitress only brought their dolls something to drink.  Last time the dolls were served mini muffins on a plate. I am not sure if they do it just for lunch or stopped.

If you are wondering why Ella is sticking her chest out, she wanted a picture of her birthday sticker.

My mom was able to join us again this year! This might just become a tradition.

While we waited on our food, they had a box filled conversation questions.

 Let's Eat!

 Ella chose pancakes and bacon.

Laney chose eggs, bacon, potatoes with a mini bagel.

Mom chose a Frittata baked with eggs, cheese, mushrooms, potatoes and broccoli.

My choice was the Apple Cinnamon French Toast.
It was Yummy!
I ate every single bit of it!

Ella had some money to spend. She had her eye on this blue car until she realized it was $350.

Both girls decided to get their dolls ears pierced and purchase a pet dog.

It was another fun trip to American Girl and I am sure it will not be our last!
