Charlotte's Web

Last Tuesday, My Kindergarten class, our buddy class and Ella( One of the perks for working there is I can take my kids with me) went to the Grand Opera House in Macon to see the play Charlotte's Web. It was such a cute play!

After the play we went to BK to eat and then to the park.

We could not have asked for a prettier day!

Girls morning out

This past Saturday, the girls and I had a girls morning and went to IHOP. It has been forever since we went out for breakfast (going through the Chickfila drive thru for a free biscuit doesn't count.....right?). I am not a morning person and since Saturdays are my only day to sleep in.......I take advantage of it. We usually wake up and end up having a brunch. I wish I was a morning person. I would be hitting every yard sale within the area!

Laney ordered the smiley face pancake.

Ella ordered the silver dollar pancakes.

Ella must have been hungry because she ate every single bit of it.

Myself???
I enjoyed the pleasures of these......

Nothing like sampling each one to remind yourself of your favorite.

My favorite has to be the butter pecan. Probably not the most nutritious but when you only go to IHOP once every few years I think it's okay. Although, isn't National Pancake Day happening soon?   Tara......oh great one of all special National holidays.....lay upon us your wisdom.

This post is dedicated to my husband

Last Friday,  we went with a few from our church bowling. My honey was almost in tears because I did not take a picture of his turkey wobbling around on the screen. You see he got several strikes in a row( not sure how many.......to busy talking) and a turkey pops up and does crazy things. So this post is dedicated to my hubby!

Congratulations to Friday nights high scorer..........

Carmel Weed

He bowled his highest game!
I missed taking a picture of the final scores because someone( who will remain anonymous) in the family erased it.
Even though it's not as good, I did get this......

All of us in action.

Okay....now I feel really bad. I got ready to upload a picture of Carmel and I did not take a single picture of him bowling. I am in soooooo much trouble. Maybe he won't look at this post.

What am I thinking??? Of course, he is going to look! I have the words dedicated and husband in my title. I guess my next post will have the title "The Horrible Wife"

Maybe it is about time I learn how to photo shop!!!!

Here are a few other pictures from the evening.

Skating

A couple of weeks ago, 1st through 12th grades went to a local skating rink. One of the teachers decided she did not want to go so I took her place. It has been a while since I have put on a pair of skates. Ohhhhh! The memories that came rushing back once I slipped on those nasty, smelly, uncomfortable skates. Back in the day( elementary age), it seemed like everyone  had their party at the skating rink......including me. I could skate  forward, backwards, squatting and sideways. Needless to say, those skills did not come rushing back when I put on skates the other day. Also, a sense of safety sets in due to the increase in age, flexibility and the fact that I have a family who could not live without me. Aside from the toilet overflowing and flooding the bar area, a few slip up songs being played and a couple of kids getting hurt, we had a great time.

Laney has told me numerous times  that she wants to have her next birthday party at the skating rink.

How we spent our Valentines

Normally, for Valentines I would have made something special for dinner with a thrown together table scape. That was not the case this year. This year we huffed down a hotdog so I could watch my kids do this instead.

Writing cards to those who are sick, need encouragement/prayers or have lost a loved one.

I would choose this anyday!

Our church has MNM(Monday Night for the Master) once a month. We gather at the church building to write cards to those who need it at that time. This month it just happened to fall on Valentines Day.

Now don't feel to bad for my kids. They still had a fun-filled day and treats from their parents and grandparents( Thank you Nana and Pop!).

This next part is just a bonus. I wanted to do it in a separate post but let's face it.......... it is just easier to add it to this one.

This was my board I did for this month.

I cut Hershey's candy shapes from poster board. The kids could pick either a hug or a kiss. The hugs were painted with brown and white stripes. The kisses were painted all brown.

This next one could be a gift for next year. I made it for a teacher's gift.

I made a cookie bouquet. I made heart shaped cookies(baked with the sticks in them). I  dipped one side in melted chocolate and drizzled it with white chocolate. Once they cooled, I wrapped them in a clear bag and finished it off with a tied piece of curly ribbon. In a container, I placed styrofoam to hold the cookies in place. I covered the styrofoam with shredded paper. Very inexpensive but a cute idea.

I made a candy bouquet for my loving husband.

Last minute Valentines

Just in case you forgot it was Valentines Day tomorrow here is a quick and easy treat to give.

Homemade Play Dough

2c flour
1c salt
1tbl cream of tarter
2tbl oil
2c water with food coloring

Mix ingredients. Heat( medium low) in a pot stirring constantly until dough pulls away from the side of the pan and forms a lump. Knead and store in a plastic bag or air tight container.

Homemade play dough is so much better than the store bought kind. It tends not to crumble as much.

Since it is Valentines, you can use pink/red food coloring and a heart shaped cookie cutter to make individual treats.

If you can't take the heat.......

then don't get a Spicy Chicken Biscuit from Chickfila!

Today for Groundhogs Day, Chickfila( at least in the Middle Georgia area) was offering a free spicy chicken biscuit to all their customers. Now if you know me then you know it's not to often I let an opportunity like this slip away. I  woke the children up with a smile.....biscuit day I tell them threatened  that if they did not wake, I would have 4 biscuits to myself. We got ready while singing  "It's a Beautiful Morning" together as fast as we could and rushed out the door leaving half of our school stuff behind( that's okay because we were getting something for freeeeeee!). We chatted about the wonderful day we were going to have and all the new  information we were eager to learn I turned up the radio as loud as I could so I would not have to hear the arguing going on in the back of the car. We arrived at Chickfila where our biscuits we waiting for us only to wait for about 15 minutes at the drive thru window. I guess they were not expecting so many frugal people. After pulling off, we share laughs race to school dodging traffic and running red lights so we are not late.

Okay so I am exaggerating a little. Our day did not go exactly like the above story. I am not the frugal demon Nazi that the story betrays. Although, I think some people out there view us( couponers who only want to stretch the dollar) that way. We did however enjoy our free biscuits!

Here are the results from the taste testing of the Spicy Chicken Biscuit.

Laney enjoyed hers although she thought it was a touch spicy.

Ella kept asking for water. She ended up just eating the biscuit.

Griffin ate his, half of mine and the rest of Ella's chicken. He was glad to have meat for breakfast. He once told me, " Mom, a growing boy like me needs meat for every meal." I think when it comes to meals he is an endless, bottomless pit!

I do not have a picture of me( I know you are disappointed) but I liked it. Be careful though it does have a kick to it!
