Year 2 of The Inner City Reading Camp

Well we made it through another year of the reading camp. If you don't remember, you can go here to read about last years Eric Carle camp. This years camp was all about Dr. Seuss.

As the children entered the building, they were greeted by Laney who gave them a name tag and a clip. The clip was used for behavior. If the child still had it by the end of the day, he/she received a prize. Its hard to believe you have to bribe kids these days to behave. 

Once they entered the room, there were morning activities waiting on the table.

Each day began with a bible story, songs and prayer.

After the bible lesson, there were 2 Dr. Seuss books picked out for the day.

Some books came alive with helpers.

After the books were read, the children were put into groups. Each table had a different activity that went along with the books read for that day. The children rotated through 4 activities each day.

Green Eggs and Ham

Each day we fed the children lunch. On this particular day it was green eggs and ham.

A majority of them tried them and liked them.

Oh, the Places You'll Go

When the children were asked, "Where would you want to go?"

Their replies......

"Walmart"

"Chuck E Cheese"

"Dollar Tree"

At the end of the day, the children were allowed to pick a prize(if they still had their clip) and a book.

The camp ran a whole lot smoother with the help of this group!
