Cell

Nope this post is not about........

a cell phone!

It's going to be about those tiny things located inside your body.

Laney chose Human Anatomy and Physiology for our science curriculum this year. We started out talking about the history which eventually led into cell anatomy. Apologia Science does a really good job with making harder topics easier to understand.

I thought I would share a little of what we learned from this chapter.

At the beginning of the chapter, we discussed the History of  Anatomy. When we were on the topic of Ancient Egyptians, we learned how they believed in preserving dead bodies. We tested out that belief with an experiment. We cut an apple into equal pieces and placed them each in an individual cup. We weighed  and added specific ingredients to each cup. After several days of sitting on the counter, we checked to see the results. One particular apple did not change much in weight or looks. Most of the others dried up and shriveled.

I cut out a replica of a cell. We used this in several lessons to help learn each part of a cell and their job.

Once we discussed DNA, I knew the girls would love making this.........

I got this idea off of pinterest.

We did do a few other activities but I forgot to take pictures.

We have left cells  and have moved onto the Skeletal System. Can't wait to share what we create in this chapter!
