Breakfast for the families

Last week the school had a breakfast for the families that are new to MGCS. It was nice to have someone else prepare breakfast for us.  It was yummy!

This is one of my students.

Who bee stealin my stuff?

I laminated 100 bees  for our wall at school. Each one has a number on it. Once we put 100 bees up, we will have a 100th Day Celebration. As I was putting the bees in order, I notice this little guy was missing.

I think I will let Ella explain in her own words what happened to him. She comes into the kitchen, hands it to me and says, " Mom, it's not my fault! I was sleep walking and came into the kitchen. I took the bee and put it up under my bed but I promise mom......... it wasn't my fault!"

I guess if I am missing something, I better bee on the lookout for a sleep walker.

Let's play a game called, "Guess what I've been doing"

So I am sure all of you( okay.... okay 1 of you) have been wondering where is Suzy? She has not posted like she usually does. So I thought  we could play a game. If you know me, then you know I like a few challenging games every now and then. So here goes.......

How to play:  Look at the first set of pictures and guess what it is. Clue: They are all things I have been busy doing. Answer key is at the end of the post. Of course, I know no one out there would even think about cheating........dad.

Let me know how many you get right. Good Luck!

Giving the hubby jobs to do like folding and putting away clothes. I think he forgot that my dresser drawers do open.

Picture 4

freezer cooking ......because I am too tired when I get home to wonder......What's for supper?
This is whole wheat raisin bread for breakfast.

Checking and filling backpacks, signing papers and helping with homework

I miss that about homeschooling.....no homework!

Picture 6

Being doctor or chauffeur to everyone.
Laney's ailments: Picture 6 was a tick we found on her the other day. Wednesday, she bit a chip and it cracked her filling and is stuck in between the tooth and the filling.....appt. Tuesday. She has these bumps on her armpit and arm that need to be checked......appt. to be determined.

Griffin's ailments: 2 cavities + 2 sealants = 3 different denist appts. He got contacts over the summer so we had to pick up a new set. He is also getting Invisiline for his teeth......appt Thursday.

Ella's ailments: So far just a runny nose.....KNOCK ON WOOD!

 Picture 7

Preparing for 5 lunches and packing 4. Griffin packs his own but let's face it everything is already prepackaged or cooked so it is basically throwing it in a bag.

That is the end of the game.....but not the end of my list.
The things without pictures.....
teaching Kindergarten
driving 30 minutes to work and 30 minutes back
writing the 4s and 5s curriculum at church
planning the Ladies Retreat at church
planning the fall festival at school
Griffin's playing football
L2L church scrapbook

So how did you do?

If I do not get a chance to post daily....weekly.....shoot maybe even monthly, you will know why?

It's all about pizza!

A couple of weeks ago, I had a cooking and freezing day to help get ready for school/work. Let me just tell you it has been  a huge lifesaver! It makes my days so much easier by not having to worry about what's for supper. I decided to work on some lunches. The kids have to take their lunch to school. They can  warm up food in the microwave which allows for more options . Since all 3 of my kids love pizza, I decided to have a pizza baking day.

We made........

pepperoni pizza bagels

whole wheat pizza pockets

whole wheat pizza crust for later

Laney and Ella were my helpers.

Can you tell which pocket I made and which one they made?

Round up!

Last Sunday, the youth group met for round up. This is when the 6th graders are welcomed into the youth group. We eat and the kids play games to get to know the newcomers.

We had 3 this year to round up.

For the past couple of years Joe has been the one to plan all the functions for the youth. He is stepping down due to returning to school. This was his last activity with the kids. We were not saying goodbye(because they will still be attending) but a thank you for all that he and his wife did for our kids. Please pray for our church as we search for the right youth minister to lead our youth.

Sand Cake

Monday night we had Monday Night for the Master. For those of you who may not know what MNM is .....it is an opportunity for us to get together to write cards of encouragement, sympathy, get well wishes, etc. Each month one person is in charge of bringing a dessert to share. This was my month so I brought Sand Cake. To be honest, I actually brought it twice. I got the dates confused and brought it a week early to the church. I ended up having to repeat the process the following Monday.

Sand Cake

1/4 c   butter
1   8 oz cream cheese
1 c  confectioner sugar
2 pkgs small vanilla instant pudding
3 1/2  c milk
12 oz   cool whip
vanilla cookies

Mix pudding and milk together. Add butter, cream cheese and confectioner sugar and mix. Fold in the cool whip. Finely crush the cookies. In a bucket, layer the cookies and then the pudding mixture. Repeat the process ending with the rest of the crushed cookies on top. Serve with a shovel.

This is a fun and yummy dessert!

Ella's first day of school

This post is dedicated to Ella. This past Monday was Ella's first day of school. She has spent the last 4 almost 5 years at home with me. It was a bitter sweet day for me. The sweet part is that I am glad that she has the chance to attend a christian school( and is right down the hall from me). The bitter part is the fact that I just don't want to let go of my baby big girl. Since my first official day with my kids was Monday, daddy had to be the one to take Ella to class. I was not sure how she would react considering she is my unpredictable child.
She did great! Carmel said she walked right in and sat down. To my surprise tough guy in military attire was the one who was wimpy. I on the other hand held it together( I think it was due to the fact that I was so busy). Here are a few photos from the special day. Daddy did a great job with stepping in as photographer. He captured all the moments I missed and I thank him for that.
At our house before we left.

Daddy gave Ella a special ride to school that morning.

Me telling Ella bye and to have a wonderful first day.

She is already making friends!

Welcome to Kindergarten!

I am so excited to be teaching Kindergarten. Way back when.....I used to dream of teaching this age. I have taught everything around it but never Kindergarten. Hopefully, I won't be pulling my hair out at the end of the year wondering....what was I thinking????

I have been working really hard this week trying to get my room put together. So here is a little peak at where I will be spending my days.

Oh sorry! Wrong dream.

Mom.....any of this looking familiar?

This is the project I am most proud of......

I made 2 of these from a sheet I bought at Walmart for $3. Cute and thrifty!

I love the way it came together. I mainly used items I had, given to me or found at the school. So little money was spent. A finished cute room and I didn't have to rob a bank. Now that is being frugal!
