What one does the other will follow.

Over Spring Break, we went to visit my sister in North Carolina (post coming soon). We stopped by an old bridge to take a few pictures.

This is one I took of Laney and Ella.

This was my niece's copycat version of posing against the bridge.

At least she got the 1 foot right!

YES Weekend

A couple of weekends ago, I was asked to help chaperone our  youth to Valdosta, Ga for YES Weekend.  The theme was Rescue Me. That is exactly what I needed! Now.... I don't mean  being rescued from this bunch pictured above. Nor, do I mean from the family I left behind (Although it was nice to get away! Very seldom am I the one  who gets away!). I am talking about the several fantastic motivational speakers I heard! I also saw several friends I have not seen in a while. Catching up is always fun!

I did learn one other thing. I am getting old. I can't pull an all nighter like I could when I went on youth trips.
This lady needs her beauty rest!

Dr.Seuss Celebration!

Last Friday was Dr. Seuss'  birthday along with Read Across America Day. We set aside the whole day to celebrate.

First, the kids had to write in their journal the 10 things that were wacky in the classroom while I read......

If you were to look a little closer, you would see that I am reading the book upside down.....now that is wacky!

I am also dressed wacky in case some of you thought I had lost my fashion skills!

Once the book was finished, we pointed out the wacky things from the room. Here are 2 or the 10:

Next we met in the auditorium where we had a special guest

read Cat in the Hat.

We made a few things to go along with the book.
The famous hat
We used half of an Oreo, red gummy life savers and frosting.

The Cat in the Hat made out of a paper plate.

My favorite craft that I thought turned out so cute was......

The Cat in the Hat

This was made from a light bulb.

From Cat in the Hat, we moved on to the book

We made our own One Fish two fish red fish blue fish book.

We took a break for a little while to watch  Horton Hears a Who  on the big screen (that would mean in the auditorium).

After the movie, we made these to help us remember to help others like Horton did in the movie.

Horton pencil holder

I thought I would share with you the wacky way my daughter dressed. She wore her play shoes which one was a very high heel boot. Needless to say, she had a hard time walking. She was wacky alright.........every time she fell!

For the last activity, we read....

and you guessed it! We had green eggs and ham!

This is me preparing them for the whole school.

Some even came back wanting seconds!

Little Grand Canyon

A couple of weeks ago, we packed up a picnic lunch and headed to Lumpkin,Ga to see the Little Grand Canyon. It was well worth the trip!

We hiked all through the canyons. There are 7 canyons I think and we only had time to go to 3 of them. You could definitely spend all day there.

It was a little muddy and wet due to rain the day before but that did not stop us from having fun!

The canyons were beautiful to look at and even better to climb!

We even had a few obstacles along the way.

After a picnic lunch and a little time on the playground, it was time to head home. We are definitely planning to go back. We still have 4 more canyons to see!

Baby gift idea

If you are wondering why I have been sharing several baby gift ideas lately, its because women are reproducing rapidly around here.
Below is another gift idea in case the mother to be has received way to many clothes.

Most new mothers do not have a lot of extra time/energy to cook. Yes, they may get a few hot meals from friends the first few nights but what about after that?  I love to freezer cook. This method of cooking has saved me many times over the past 2 years. So I thought why not give a useful gift the whole family can appreciate......maybe even the baby a few hours later.

Give the family freezer meals!

We had some friends of ours from church welcome a precious baby girl into their family. I let the mother know at her shower that part of her gift would be a couple of freezer meals. After the baby was born, we took over a chicken pot pie, lasagna, cinnamon rolls and slice and bake cookies.

I included the cooking directions and the name of the meal on top.

An added bonus, my kids are given the chance to be a Good Samaritan!

Okay.........you got me.........the real reason is to hold a 3 day old baby.
